LADIES! LET’S NEIGHBORHOOD NETWORK FOR TRAINING PARTNERS!
I am a morning workout out person? When do you like to fit your run, ride, or swim in during your busy day? I really love working out early in the morning with my sister-in-law Sarah who happens to live next door to me. No matter how late I head to bed, I always look forward to our workouts. I really prefer to workout and hang with others who share the same positive attitude towards fitness and life. I’m pretty sure I would hit the snooze button a few times or even end up staying in bed if I didn’t have Sarah coming down the road to pick me up. Everyone needs ease and motivation to get them out of bed or out the door and we know it’s always worth every effort. I propose that we create a neighborhood network merging women and mildly tame men who live right in your neighborhood using the wide world of blogs, twitters, emails, and the newly created http://www.newvelo.org/ by Chris Mau, who’s ultimate goal is to connect northwest Wisconsin cycling community in a friendly, fun manner.

Here’s how we can do it!
First, become a member of the new northeast Wisconsin NEW Velo online cycling community where you can connect and meet a diverse group of cyclists that live in our commuinty.

Next, I will create an email database with the names of women living in certain regions of Brown County. For example: Ashwaubenon, West Side Green Bay/Suamico, West DePere, East DePere, East Side Green Bay, and New Franken/Luxemburg Casco. Then someone will need to step in and be the workout planner. The best part as the planner is you get to choose the sport, day, and time that works for you and then invite others to join you. It’s that simple! If you want to ride early on a Sunday morning before church, plan it from a common, central location in your neighborhood. Need to swim train and want workout partners? Email you are going to one of the local YMCA’s on such-a-such day and time and invite others to join you. It’s that simple! The beauty of the pool is you can tailor the workout to meet everyone’s swim ability. Did you know that swimming with others makes the time go by three times faster than alone?

Have you found yourself watching the clock during any of your runs, rides or swim workouts and wondered why only a half-hour has gone by? Try it with partners and you'll be amazed at the fun, motivation and camaraderie there is to be had. This can build into a wonderful connection with wonderfully positive, high- energy women who share the same love of fitness and life as you do! It just takes inititive on your part to get it started. And believe me, it’s worth the effort to find workout partners, but let’s make it easy and find them right in your neighborhood. Give it a try!

LADIES & MILDLY TAME MEN,

NEW! WEDNESDAY EARLY MORNING ROAD BIKE RIDE @ WEST SIDE YMCA starting June 3, 2009 from 5:30 to 7:00am with ride leader Deb Ernst
I love to ride my bike early on a beautiful, sunny, warm morning, so let’s ride together and listen to the birds chirping, dogs barking, and turkeys gobbling while we enjoy the company of other cyclists who love to ride just as much as you do. We know our kids will still be sound asleep as we pedal down the road. Let's start our day with a renewed outlook as we head home for breakfast and the busyness of our day.

New to group road riding? Be prepared to ride in a close pack, ride harder than you would alone, and find the possibility of being dropped as you get in shape and develop riding skills. Just give it a try! Women encouraged and mildly tame men! Maps will be provided. Road bikes, helmets, clipless pedals and shoes required.

Welcome to Spring!
